About This Spot

Stepping into Doris Metropolitan in New Orleans’ French Quarter, you immediately sense a refined yet approachable rhythm. The space carries an air of quiet confidence—a modern steakhouse that blends the city’s rich culinary traditions with a contemporary touch. There’s an inviting stillness in the dining room, where rich wood tones and a thoughtfully curated ambiance create a backdrop for relaxed, attentive moments.

The pace here isn’t hurried. Instead, it encourages savoring both the company and the food. Whether you find yourself seated near the expansive display of dry-aged meats or tucked in at the intimate bar, there’s an unspoken promise of care woven into every detail. The team’s knowledge shines quietly as they guide guests through a menu thoughtfully crafted around exceptional cuts of beef—each with a story etched by time and technique—alongside elevated appetizers and sides that feel at once familiar and inventive.

What lingers most, beyond the tenderness of a perfectly dry-aged ribeye or the delicate balance of house-baked bread and custom butters, is the sense of a welcoming refuge — a place where the art of attentive hospitality meets a love for serious meat enjoyment. Conversations ripple around the tables, sometimes vibrant, sometimes hushed, lending an urban warmth to the experience.

Here, indulgence has a thoughtful edge: the menu offers rare finds like Japanese A5 Wagyu cuts without veering into excess, inviting diners to explore flavors with genuine appreciation. Sides like truffle fries and asparagus gratin quietly enrich the meal, never overshadowing the carefully prepared steaks. Even desserts carry this measured enthusiasm, rounding out the evening without rushing it to a close.

In a city known for vibrant celebrations, Doris Metropolitan offers a counterpoint—an elegant, quietly confident space where food and company mingle in an easy, sincere dialogue. It’s a place for moments that linger, inviting you to return and rediscover what makes a truly great steakhouse feel like something just a little bit special.

We’ve been here many times since they opened 12-14 years ago? and love it. Great food and the waiting staff is very knowledgeable. However the hostess (with a flower in her hair) is not nice, very assertive and patronizing, never smiles and very unapproachable . the other one in training seemed much nicer. In a restaurant the employees are as important as the food.

We had dinner and the food was delicious. They had a good variety of meat choices from prime, dry aged, and Japanese A5 Waegu. We were initially seated in the dining area based on our reservation but quickly asked to be changed due to the unbelievably loud conversation from the large group of diners across the room. No fault to the restaurant though. The sides were delicious and portions were adequate.

We made reservations to sit at the bar. Such a comfortable beautiful area. Joe took care of us. Joe is fantastic - he is a gem, The owners are so lucky to have him. Everything we had was fantastic. This restaurant is doing everything right. It might be my new favorite French quarter spot. Just try it, you won't be disappointed.

We really enjoyed our meal at Doris Metropolitan New Orleans. The atmosphere is upper end, nice yet fairly casual. In the front is a large refrigerator with glass walls displaying the aged meats they serve. Our food was very good and the steaks were perfectly prepared. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. A great experience.

This is the best steak I've had since I was in Japan and enjoyed an A5 Kobe Wagyu beef ribeye. Nothing can ever beat that, but to me the ribeye at Doris Metropolitan is the closest stateside, so far. The breads...my, my, my! The butters - try Wagyu butter with your steak. The restaurant is pricey, but if you want to splurge and be seriously satisfied, in my estimation, it's worth the price. Dee-LISH-shus!

Incredible service and unforgettable food! Howard made our experience awesome! He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Every detail of the service was perfect. And the short rib? Absolutely delicious, tender, flavorful. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for amazing food paired with top-notch service!

Walked in on a very wet New Orleans night without reservation. Sat at the bar and was well taken care off by the bar guys and the servers. Service was friendly and attentive. The whole place was very dark and moody, perfect to impress with. Had the tomato salad to begin with and i would have it again. Tart and juicy, its acidity and sharpness on the tongue was refreshing. Main dish came and the bone-in NY Strip was rather excellent. It was about an inch thick yet the inside was cooked perfectly. You could see that the presentation was on the arty side, and that’s a summary of the place really - fancy done well.

Had a wonderful menu. Our server was knowledgeable and had great recommendations. Very good food. I wish the dining experience was more intimate. It was loud and cold but not very crowded. It is advertised as a fine dining experience but felt casual. Dressing up for the occasion felt out of place.
